San Juan Capistrano, CA – September 19, 2021 – As Lauren Christine Wilson landed off the final fence of the $10,000 Interactive Mortgage “Ticket to Ride” Adult Jumper Classic – Younger, she let out a yell and raised her fist in celebration. With the fastest jump-off time by nearly two seconds, Wilson and South Beach GES earned the win in the class, held on Sunday during the Blenheim Fall Tournament in San Juan Capistrano, CA.

While Wilson’s time of 44.804 seconds secured the win, second place went to Kathryn Pulford and Calira T with a time of 46.529 seconds. The third-place award was presented to Megan Cameron who stopped the jump-off clock in 52.343 seconds aboard Korinthe de Goedereede.

“I knew the competition was super stiff,” said Wilson, who was one of six entries from the 14-horse field to advance to the jump-off. “Kathryn, who came in second, beats me in the Classics a lot! As we finished, I was just so happy. All of our hard work came together. To be able to beat very fast and very talented peers was just really exciting!”

Of her winning exclamation, Wilson added, “I was a ball sport athlete; I played volleyball in college and all of that. You have more of opportunity to let go and scream and yell there then you do when you’re riding horses, so I take whatever chance that I get!”

Wilson’s longtime partnership with South Beach GES made the victory extra special, as she has spent the past nearly seven years working with the buckskin warmblood mare, owned by Constance Farmer.

“I actually got her off of video on the internet when she was 3,” explained Wilson. “So, I’ve had her for most of her life, and it’s been a lot of work to train her from there to finally winning a big classic.”

Throughout the season at Blenheim EquiSports, the Interactive Mortgage “Ticket to Ride” Adult Amateur Jumper Series, sponsored by Gregg and Evette DeLong, provided adult amateurs with the opportunity to compete in seven $2,500 1.15m classics before two culminating $10,000 Interactive Mortgage “Ticket to Ride” Adult Jumper Classics, split by median age, held on Sunday.

For Sunday’s final classes, the order of go was based on riders’ Interactive Mortgage “Ticket to Ride” Series point standings.

“These classes make us [as amateurs] feel really special and like people care,” said Wilson of the classes which offer riders lower entry fees and greater prize money. “We’re the ones that are spending our money on this. Women I know have super powerful careers, and then they’re still out here riding this well, raising kids and all of that. It’s just so nice for somebody to notice what the sacrifice is for an amateur to make this happen.”

Jennifer Elliott and Comtess win the $10,000 Interactive Mortgage “Ticket to Ride” Adult Jumper Classic – Older

Victory in the $10,000 Interactive Mortgage “Ticket to Ride” Adult Jumper Classic – Older went to Jennifer Elliott, who produced the only faultless round of the day aboard Comtess.

Second place with just two time faults went to Lauren Katzenellenbogen aboard her own Hands Up, and third place with four faults in a time of 76.877 seconds went to Barbara Blasko of ShowMD riding her own Dior.

“I loved the course today,” said Elliott of the track set by Marina Azevedo. “I’m a little bummed that I didn’t get to jump-off because that looked like it was going to be a blast!”

Elliott has been partnered with Comtess, an 11-year-old Westphalian mare, for two years, and has enjoyed contesting the Interactive Mortgage “Ticket to Ride” series throughout the season.

“I’m really thankful to Gregg and Evette for putting on a class like this,” said Elliott. “It’s really exciting for us adults to be able to jump 1.15m for some serious prize money and to not have to spend a fortune to do it. I think that’s great, and I really appreciate that they’re doing this.”
