Chipotle and Michelle Parker
PC: Carol Brooks Parker

Michelle Parker is no stranger to developing young jumpers. Over the years she has successfully brought horses, like Cuplior, from the Young Jumper divisions to Grand Prix classes. One of her mounts this year, 7-year old gelding Chipotle, is proving to be another #YoungJumperStar on the rise.

In 2018, Chipotle earned top ribbons with Parker in the 6-year old division and has continued his winning ways into 2019. During Blenheim Spring Classic III, in April, Chipotle claimed victory in the 7-year old Young Jumper Classic.  He’s certainly one to watch as we approach the Blenheim Young Jumper Championships at Showpark All Seasons Summer Classic next week!

We got a chance to catch up with owner/rider Parker, who gave us the inside scoop on Chipotle’s California roots. Read his Young Jumper Profile below to find out more!

What is Chipotle’s breeding?

He is by Canaletto S and South Pacific.  Joan Irvine Smith, The Oaks, bred him. We purchased him as a weanling along with a filly we named Salsa.

How long have you been riding him?

Since age four.  All the babies go to Tucson to get cowboy broke and then come to California as four-year-olds.

If he were a celebrity, who would he be and why?

Kevin Hart because he can’t sit still. Also, he’s a bit hyper-active but kind of a chicken too.

Would he rather eat or compete?

Chipotle is more interested in keeping busy than in eating.

What are his goals in life?

Grand Prix, what else is there? 😉
