Weekly Update | June 12, 2020

Jun 12, 2020 | Announcements, Featured

Dear Friends,

For a while I was wondering if we’d ever be able to make this announcement! But it now looks like the end is in sight and the padlocks will finally come off the gates to the Riding Park! In short, the State of California has approved “sporting events without spectators” which is the category that Blenheim’s extensive protocol action plan falls under. Because the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park at San Juan Capistrano is a city-owned property, final approval needs to come from the City Council which will be meeting in closed session on Tuesday night (June 16th) to confirm details of the re-opening plan. While not official (until Tue night!), it appears that we will be permitted to run a local County horse show June 26-28, a NO SHOW July 11th, and then full resumption of our USEF schedule starting with the Blenheim Summer Festival July 15-19.

The best news is that for the first time since the inception of the Friday updates, I actually have some information from Stephanie!…The prize list is now available on our website. For each of the July Blenheim shows, the opening date to receive entries and stall reservations is Monday June 15th, and entries will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis with priority given to exhibitors who have entered and provided deposits for the Blenheim Spring Classic Horse Shows. Should the stall capacity be exceeded prior to the closing date of entries, a wait list will be established. And finally, all entries must be submitted online via ShowGroundsLive or Equestrian Connect.

More importantly, sand bagging resumes tomorrow morning, and in case anyone is curious who the mystery guest sand bagger was last week…it was Morley Abey, and he was a great help!

Have a nice weekend!

Robert
