San Juan Capistrano, CA – Since its inception almost fifty years ago, the Foxfield Medal Final has been a staple of the West Coast show circuit. For the first time in its distinguished history, the Final will be held outside the gates of Foxfield Riding School. Blenheim EquiSports has been selected to host the 48th annual running of the Final at the 2019 Blenheim Fall Tournament this September.

The Blenheim EquiSports team is thrilled to add this Amateur-oriented event to their fall roster. Stephanie Lightner, VP of Operations, states, “It’s a great honor to be chosen to host such a prestigious and historic Medal Final as the Foxfield.”

Developed by National Show Hunter Hall of Fame Inductees JoAnn Postel and Nancy Turrill, the Foxfield Medal Final provides an opportunity for Amateur riders to shine. Known for consistently testing riders’ effectiveness and elegance over a difficult course, this Medal Final served as the pinnacle of Amateur equitation for many years. This innovative class helped pave the way for many of the Amateur Medals we recognize today. In addition, its reputation as a special event, full of camaraderie and extravagant awards, added to the appeal over time. Also known for honoring tradition and top sport, Blenheim EquiSports will maintain the exceptional spirit of the Foxfield in San Juan Capistrano.

The unique Final consists of two divisions for qualified riders, one for competitors 18-35 years old, and another for competitors 36 and over. Participants compete over a technical 3’3” course, with finalists returning for a second round of tests, both over fences and on the flat. The top ten highest-scoring riders complete a third, work-off round to determine the Grand Champion and overall awards. Opportunities to earn qualifying points toward the Final will be held throughout the season at Blenheim EquiSports shows.

The Foxfield is certainly an excellent addition to a the 2019 Equitation Finals season for Juniors and Amateurs at Blenheim EquiSports. It is preceded by the CPHA Medal and Foundation Finals during the Blenheim and Showpark Summer Classics in August.

At the Blenheim Fall Tournament, the Foxfield will share the spotlight with 2018 NHSAA/ASPCA Maclay Region 8 Championships, followed by the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Final and USHJA Jumping Seat Final at the International Jumping Festival the following week. Heading indoors for the final event, the WCE Medal Final, closes out the Medal season in November at the Las Vegas National.
